Bending a Segmetal Strip. Fitting of the strips is simple and can be done very quickly with the minimum of tools. In the adjacent photograph a strip is being bent to follow the curve of the plough blade using a cramp. After bending the strip will be offered up to the edge of the blade and tack welded in position. The process will be repeated until the required number of strips have been bent and attached.

When all the strips are in position it is a simple matter to weld the strips to the plough with a continuous weld run, which is applied on the front and the back of the blade.

Cutting a Segmetal Strip. In the final operation any excess strip is cut off using a normal hacksaw.
